VP of Commercial · Proteomics & Multi-Omics Analytics
Remote-first · Bay Area preferred · Full-time · Equity + bonus
Lead Teal Rise's commercial strategy and growth — from first deals to a repeatable go-to-market motion.
About Teal Rise
Teal Rise extracts biologically meaningful insights from complex proteomics data — unlocking signals that predict disease before it begins. Our mission is to help humanity stay healthy longer.
We build and deploy organ-, cell-, and protein-level aging clocks: 20+ models trained on over 100,000 samples across major global cohorts, running across all three leading proteomics platforms — Olink, SomaLogic, and Alamar. We operate as a full-service, platform-agnostic partner from study design through final biological interpretation. No platform-native tool offers this depth or cross-study comparability.
Teal Rise was co-founded by Dr Tony Wyss-Coray — D.H. Chen Professor of Neurology at Stanford, Director of the Knight Initiative for Brain Resilience, TIME Health Care 50 honoree, 200+ publications — and Markus Okumus, who has founded and exited consumer and health companies across the US and Europe over 30 years.
The science behind our models has been independently validated across four peer-reviewed publications:
- Nature · December 2023 · Cover paper. Organ-specific aging clocks predict 20–50% higher mortality risk and forecast diseases including heart failure and Alzheimer's — before clinical symptoms appear.
- Lancet Digital Health · March 2025. Organ aging signatures predict 20-year disease risk across 30+ conditions, validated in the Whitehall II longitudinal cohort.
- Nature Medicine · July 2025. Brain and immune aging profiles predict healthspan and longevity outcomes. Validated on 44,000+ individuals in the UK Biobank.
- Preprint · February 2026. Cell-level aging signatures across 40+ cell types in 60,000 individuals — taking biological resolution to an entirely new level.
- Covered by Nature, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Scientific American, TIME, and the Huberman Lab.
The Role
We have world-class science, a strong IP position, active platform partnerships, and early commercial traction. What we need is someone to turn that into a repeatable commercial engine.
This is a VP-level hire — not a seat in an existing sales organisation. In the near term you operate as a senior individual contributor: activating your network, closing deals, building the go-to-market motion from scratch. As revenue scales, you hire and lead the commercial team beneath you. The person who does this well shapes Teal Rise's trajectory at its most consequential moment — with equity to match.
We work with academic and research institutes running large-scale aging and disease studies, with drug companies and CROs who need patient stratification and biomarker-based trial design, and with researchers tracking biological response to treatments or interventions over time. Engagements range from single-study projects to multi-year platform partnerships.
What you will do
During the onboarding and discovery phase, you will immerse yourself in our IP, models, and existing partnerships, map your network against our customer segments, and identify the most qualified near-term opportunities. From there, you will move quickly to put proposals in play and close your first deals. You'll be responsible for establishing our pricing framework, sales materials, and CRM discipline, while simultaneously activating referral flows through our current partners. Over the following months, you will build a repeatable commercial motion, grow existing partner accounts, and scope the first team hire.
You own revenue end-to-end — outreach, discovery, proposal, negotiation, contracting, close, and the relationship after. You build the go-to-market architecture, not just fill a pipeline. You carry the number.
Who you are
You have a proven track record closing B2B engagements in proteomics, multi-omics, biomarkers, or a related life-science platform. You are commercially credible with scientific stakeholders — PIs, translational researchers, procurement leads, clinical operations — and you have a warm network in academic research, biotech, and pharma that can generate qualified pipeline within 90 days. You have owned a revenue target and hit it without heavy sales infrastructure, and you want to build a commercial function from scratch, not inherit one.
You are AI-native and agile. You are scientifically fluent enough to follow a conversation about organ aging clocks, cross-platform model deployment, and assay design without losing the commercial thread. You are comfortable being measured by what you close. And you understand that a $200K pilot that becomes a $2M multi-year partnership is worth more than three one-off deals.
Helpful but not required: background at a leading pharma, CRO, or life-science platform company (Tempus, Adaptive Biotechnologies, SomaLogic, Olink); experience structuring complex analytics or service contracts; prior experience hiring or managing a commercial team.
Compensation
- Competitive base salary, aligned with experience and stage, discussed transparently.
- Meaningful VP-level equity grant with significant long-term upside. This is the primary value-capture component of the role.
- Uncapped, performance-linked bonus tied directly to revenue and commercial impact.
- We prioritize ownership and upside alignment over fixed compensation. This is a role for individuals motivated by building and capturing meaningful value, not maximizing base salary.
